Honors Science Courses
Many of the resources for honors courses will also be appropriate for students enrolled in standard courses. Advanced courses are designated as honors by the increased instructional pacing and depth of content. The difference may be in the level of independence expected of students and the amount of time activities may take. Because students can be expected to cover the material more independently and at a greater depth, teachers may have the opportunity to explore enrichment topics. All students, not just those in honors courses, should experience challenging work and engage in the science and engineering practices. All students will be assessed on the same End of Course Science I Assessment (Biology content) as students enrolled in the standard course.
Students enrolled in honors courses are expected to:
• learn the material in the standard-level courses at greater depth;
• work more independently than students in standard-level courses;
• complete more independent in-depth scientific investigations.
