If you only want to view some of your calendar layers, you can hide any of your calendar layers. For example, if you are working on long-term plans for one content area/course, you can turn off all of your other calendar layers so you can focus on just one calendar layer. You can also turn on and off the visibility of all the layers in a layer folder by using the visibility checkbox for the layer folder.
